Give Light Session — San Mateo Japanese Garden

This Give Light session took place at the San Mateo Japanese Garden, close to where the family lives. They didn’t have a specific vision or request - just a simple interest in being photographed together.

It was also their first family photo session.

We kept things easy. Walking paths, quiet corners, moments in between. No pressure to pose or “get it right.” Just time together in a place they already enjoy.

After the session, I asked if they wanted to share a few thoughts — completely optional and without names. This is what they shared:

“Every time we look at these pictures or go to that park, we’ll remember good human beings like you.”

“These were our first family pictures. It felt like we were some kind of models.”

“As a family, we love to hang out and do small picnics by the park or beach.”

That’s really what Give Light is about.

Not perfect photos.
Not big moments.
Just families showing up as they are - and having something to hold onto later.
